A Photo Tour – Kyoto, Japan
Photo Tour of Kyoto, Japan
Near the end of April 2013, Alyse and I had the pleasure of spending 10 wonderful nights in beautiful Kyoto. With the some of the most beautiful zen gardens in the world, striking pagodas, bamboo forests, endless walkways of vermillion gates and the chance to see geisha in person, this city has more to offer to the traveller and photographer than perhaps anywhere in the world. We found that more than any other city in the world, the past seems to blend seamlessly with the future.
Here is our photo tour of Kyoto, Japan. Enjoy!
The Zen Garden at “Tenryu-Ji”, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
A Maiko and her Oka-San coming out of their Okiya in Gion
Zen rock garden at the Ryoan-ji Temple
Karaoke at a spot just east of Kyoto Station
“Yasaka Pagoda”, an eternal symbol of the Higashiyama District

We loved our time in Kyoto, finding it to be a city that appears as any other Japanese metropolis until you peel back the layers and discover the history lying just beneath the surface.
Until next time,
Ross and Alyse
