Photo Tour of Luang Prabang
The plan was to stay in Luang Prabang for 5 nights and then head north to Nong Khiaw. The plan seemed like a good one until we got to Luang Prabang and fell in love with the culturally rich city and decided to stay for another 5 more! The temples, the food, the river front cafes, the chill out bars, the markets, yoga studios, the morning alms, the expat community; this city has it all.
The more Alyse and I travel, the more we appreciate places that have come close to finding a seamless blend between traditional culture and western influences because believe us, they are rare. Yes, Luang Prabang isn’t what it was 20 years ago (what city is?) as they now see hoards of tourists every year and with that many western restaurants and villas have been built, but the developments have been done in such a tasteful, controlled way that the inherent beauty of the town has been saved.
