What To Budget for Laos

In our third post in our ongoing series “What to Budget” we detail our spending during our 34 nights in Laos. In the following category breakdown we provide per day costs and major influencing expenses if any.

Not unlike the other mainland Southeast Asian countries, Laos is very cheap. In fact, we ended having the lowest total cost per person of any country we travelled to in Asia. This had something to do with the fact we didn’t scuba dive here (obviously as it’s landlocked!) and there isn’t a really expensive tourist attraction in Laos like an Angkor Wat in Cambodia or Ha Long Bay in Vietnam.

The biggest budget shocker to be aware of if you are Canadian, is that the cost of the visa is a hefty $47.50 USD per person!

Make sure to check out our “2 Weeks in Laos” itineraries to help you plan your upcoming Laos adventure.
