What To Budget for Philippines

In our newest post to our ongoing series “What to Budget” we detail our spending during our 20 nights in the Philippines. In the following category breakdown we provide per day costs and major influencing expenses if any.

There’s a reason so many people are now flocking to the Philippines for their vacations. White sand beaches for days, world class diving and it’s very cheap!

That said, we ended up spending a bit more per day here than in the other countries we’d travelled through in Southeast Asia and there were a few reasons why. Firstly, we only spent 20 nights here instead of our usual full month (or longer) which means we didn’t stay long enough in certain locations to bring down that average. Instead, we were travelling quite often whether by bus, boat or plane. Secondly, it was expensive to get around the country. If we took out inter-country travel expenses (just for fun) our average plumets by about $17 USD per person per day which is pretty telling.

Make sure to check out our awesome 2 week Sample Itinerary for Philippines to help to plan your upcoming travels.
